Karen finished up last week and I limped over the finishline yesterday thanks to her encouragement (it helps having a real writer in the house!). My approach was to write the minimum number of words per day and after missing three days in a row twice in the month I thought I was beat.
It was a very busy month. I started two new jobs, had a solo art exhibit, two Christmas Art and Craft sales, started math tutoring at the school where I also volunteer 2 part days a week and took a Knitting for Men workshop at my friend Carol's store Wabi Sabi among othere things, so I'm glad I was able to perservere. What I didn't do was keep up on email, or blogposts. I planned to put in a few progress reports along the way and that just didn't happen, so thanks for checking in!

Summerfolk is a festival tucked into Kelso Beach in beautiful Owen Sound on Lake Huron. We took the boys and camped right on the site, close to the stage along with all the other artisans. The weather was perfect, the music was fine and the view was majestic. We have come to know alot of fine people there, over the past 10 or so years, and the festival has definitely become a sweet spot in my summer. Thanks to all the folks who stopped in at our booth! Keep your eyes on the skies and note that they have posted a raindate for Sunday. Currently, the forcast is for rain late in the afternoon, and there are also showers forcasted for Sunday, so...? I suspect that unless it is pouring rain first thing in the morning, that they will go ahead with it on Sat. I am usually set up at the
Somerset st. end of the park, on the path not far from the parking area.

Therefore, Market customers, I will not be at the Ottawa Farmers' Market Sunday, because I will be at Minto Park at Elgin and Gilmour, 10am until 7pm.Timothy Hunthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12185623001092732302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412018343654142161.post-1219214674811015242008-07-17T14:06:00.007-04:002008-07-17T14:44:37.724-04:00Urban Art at Minto Park/Farmers' Market

Just a reminder that I will not be at the Ottawa Farmers' Market this Sunday (july 20th), but I will be returning the following week-July 27. My booth partner Katie, a.k.a Out of My Mind will also be absent from the Market this week. It will be business as usual at the Market after the Implosion at Frank Clair Stadium. This should be over with by 9 am. For an unforgettable Market Experience, why not stop by early, watch the dang thing blow up good, then grab yourself breakfast at the food tent and pick up your meat, baking and veggies on the way out?

On Saturday July 26th I will be at Urban Art in Minto Park, where I will be selling t-shirts as well as artwork .This is a great place to view the work of local artists and craftspeople right in the heart of Ottawa at Elgin and Gilmour streets.
Timothy Hunthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12185623001092732302noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5412018343654142161.post-50395835578129710932008-07-16T15:14:00.004-04:002008-07-17T15:55:46.636-04:00Implosion at LansdowneJust a note to my Ottawa Farmers Market customers: I will not be at the Market this Sunday, July 20th. It seemed that the weather forcasters had erred once again and the possibility of thundershowers were behind us. But at about two o'clock, with very little warning, the skies darkened and before we knew it the wind picked up and the rain poured down.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiWps94Y82wqa5VMOKQwjtijFau5xuLlTPqhv1KEdj3mnR6iz_Og294Qb-_X9lBExF0cKhcmiqy5-P8XUYNJDmUgbN0d74wJcxfbdUyZTjUGW3_6NlUdrvf3FvIVeIBfbmuK4gzmxW3EdY/s400/rain.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5212294390657165170" />
After 20 minutes the first onslaught was over. This tent didn't make it.
Normally I like to make something new for IF, but when I read the topic, "fail", this collage book I made in 2006 popped into my head. That year, Karen & I and our friend Katie, decided to make a book a week to send to one another. The book itself is made from an 8.5 X11 sheet that is folded and cut to make an 8-page book. Each of the frames is one page and the double frame is in the centre of the book. Man of Futile Words (copyright 2006) is what I call my small press and the last frame is the back cover of the book. I reformatted it here to make it easier to read, but here's what it looks like when the book is folded out flat:

My personal challenge for this week was to make something from items I've been saving for "projects". I decided instead to pick things up on a walk downtown and try to make something from the objects I found. Below are the items I picked up on a 40 minute walk . There was a lot to choose from because the melting snow was revealing layers of detritus that had accumulated over the winter.

The Colonel Sander's story evolved as I was arranging the pieces on the table. I didn't use everything, and the marble and key were things I already had. I like working this way because the materials really take over and suggest the direction of the piece.
Timothy Hunthttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12185623001092732302noreply@blogger.com9
